Hi Shayne. New series of X Factor. Discuss.
I'm loving it. I watch it as often as I can.

Any favourites?
No, not yet. It's too early to call. I think the groups are really strong this year.

Do you vote?
I haven't, not yet.

There have been stories of in-fighting between the contestants in the house. Was it a hotbed of bitching when you were on the show?
Not at all. You're too busy to argue. We were all very supportive of each other.

Even Chico?!
He's a good mate. I just spoke to him on the phone.

What are you up to now?
I have my second album coming out. It's called Breathless and I'm so proud of it. I've worked with people who've worked with Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys, which was just amazing.

How different is it from your first album?
There are less slow songs and it's a little more dancey. I love it.

The producers of the show took a year to make last year's winner Leona Lewis's first album. Were you jealous given that yours was rushed out as soon as you'd won?
Not at all. There's no jealousy between Leona and myself. She does her thing and I do mine. I love her single and she's a friend of mine, so I could never be jealous of her. I think they just wanted to take time to get her album right.

You're doing a lot of dancing now in your videos - is that scary?
No, I enjoy it. Obviously people have been comparing me to Justin Timberlake but he's been doing this for years and I'm just starting out, so I have a lot to learn. I really want to get some good dance routines sorted for my shows.

Your first single was called That's My Goal. What goals do you have left now?
I just want to keep singing. I'd love to do a duets album next. My dream duets would be with Elton John or Pink; I'm a big fan.

What about settling down and having kids - any desire to do that yet?
Ha! No, not really. I'm happy how I am, with my girlfriend. I'm still young so it's not something that I think about too often.
