The X Factor is now into its fourth series, so what's been happening with the previous winners and also-rans?

It was almost like a modern Cinderella story when Leona won the biggest talent show on TV.

The singer came from a London family, who had struggled to put her through stage school, to take the X Factor crown.

Her debut single A Moment Like This beat Take That's Patience to take the coveted Christmas No 1 slot last year and apparently outsold the rest of the Top 40 combined.

Mentor Simon bragged that she'd be huge in the States, but Leona has been keeping a low profile in the UK for most of this year.

In February, it was reported she had signed a £5million deal in the US with Clive Davis, founder of Arista Records, who launched Whitney Houston's career.

In May she won an Ivor Novello Award for Best Selling British Single and performed on This Is Your Life for Simon Cowell in June.

And Leona's first album is due for a September release after she apparently recorded tracks in Atlanta, Georgia. About time too!
