Andy Abraham, the runner-up of the second series, came a long way to compete in X Factor.

As a former binman more used to getting up at the crack of dawn and avoiding the neighbourhood's most ferocious dogs, Andy only auditioned after his wife Denise applied without him knowing.

But the father-of-two won rapturous praise from the judges and was only beaten by Shayne Ward by 1.2 per cent.
