Susan Boyle may not perform in the final of 'Britain's Got Talent' over fears for her mental health. Producers have put the singer into hiding and are said to be worried about her wellbeing after her behaviour has become increasingly erratic - including an outburst at police officers - earlier this week. A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "The last thing producers want is a meltdown on national TV. It's been made clear if she's not right mentally, she won't appear in the final.

"Show bosses told us to get Susan's mind right because there are genuine concerns about her health. She desperately needs breathing space.

"The idea is to get into a place where her privacy is better managed than at a hotel. She'll be totally shielded from people other than her closest advisors."

The 48-year-old singer also packed her bags and said she was quitting the show this week, as the pressures of going from living alone in a Scottish town to performing in front of millions of people in a matter of weeks got to her.

Show judge Piers Morgan defended the spinster yesterday (28.05.09), saying : "I've been told she's been in floods of tears.

"Yesterday she was actually going to leave the show, because she couldn't see the point in going on if all she was going to get was all this sniping."

"I think there's a lot of cynicism building up about Susan, a lot of unnecessary criticism about her. She's just two days away from the biggest show of her life, the biggest moment of her life, and we should give her a break."

Earlier this week it was reported Susan launched into a four letter tirade against two people who tried to "wind her up", and swore at police officers who came to see what the disturbance was about. She is also said to have shouted "f**k off" and flicked a V-sign upon hearing 'Britain's Got talent' judge Piers Morgan praising contestant Shaheen Jafargholi - who is scheduled to sing against Susan in the show's final.

Susan - who has learning difficulties - is said to be staying with friends while ITV seeks medical advice as to whether she will be fit enough to perform in the show's final on Saturday (30.05.09) night.
