Mandy's Strictly wish

Lord Mandelson

Business Secretary Lord Mandelson has said he "would love to be asked" to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.

The politican revealed his secret wish during an interview with BBC Breakfast.

He said: "I was cheering for John Sergeant on Saturday and I have to say watching with a degree of envy."

When asked if he would like to take part himself, he responded: "It would be nice to be asked".

The presenters were somewhat taken aback, but Lord Mandelson would only smile and chuckle when they asked if he would rule out appearing on the show.

John Sargeant made it through to the next round of the contest, despite coming bottom of the scoring.
