Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips has said that she was so promiscuous in the Seventies that she would pick men up on the street.

Arlene left her strict home in Manchester in the early 1970's to move to London to join the dance troupe Hot Gossip.

She said: "It was a fine time to be an attractive woman on the fringes of showbiz. God yes, brilliantly exciting!"

"I spent a lot of the time on the King's Road, getting picked up by whatever flash car came by," she said.

In 1979, Arlene worked as a choreographer on a Village People video and, after a fling with one of the models in the video, became pregnant with her daughter Alana. She says she has never told the man he has a daughter.

Arlene's first marriage was to a man seven years her junior and her second husband, whom she met 20 years ago, is 17 years younger than her.

She also remembers meeting a young Simon Cowell during her showbiz days in the 80s: "He was really slim then."
