Soap's odd couples
Becky and Roy make unusual flatmates in Coronation Street.
In fact, they're almost as unlikely as these peculiar pairings from over the years...
Spider and Emily Nugent, Coronation Street
The eco-warrier and the charity shop do-gooder. Emily's nephew Spider brought out Emily's wild side, and even had her climbing trees in protest over roadworks! Who knew?
Seth Armstrong and Kim Tate, Emmerdale The soap super-bitch and the OAP pint-cadger were best mates after forming an unlikely alliance at Home Farm. Kim even took time out of her busy on-the-run-from-the-law schedule to send flowers to Seth's funeral.
Raquel Wolstenholme and Ken Barlow, Coronation Street
Intellectual Ken and blonde bimbo Racquel bonded over her "desire to learn French. "Voulez-vous couchez avec moi ce soir?" Racquel innocently purred, much to Ken's bemusement!
Dot Branning and Dennis Rickman, EastEnders
The launderette provided bad boy Dennis with plenty of space to air his dirty laundry - and a shoulder to cry on in the form of elderly mate Dot. It was Dennis from whom Dot sought advice when she had her cancer scare, and his death was a great blow to her.
Shirley Carter and Heather Trott, EastEnders
One is a washed-up old lush, the other a cheese-loving optimist. But somehow Shirley and Heather found common ground as Walford's closest friends. There's always a George Michael song to suit Heather's mood and soften icy Shirley's well-hidden heart.
Tracy Barlow and Claire Peacock, Coronation Street
Neighbours couldn't believe their eyes when poisonous Tracy struck up a friendship with happy-go-lucky Claire in the wake of her boyfriend Charlie's affair with Maria. They were right to be suspicious - Tracy's newfound enthusiasm for tea and sympathy at Casa Peacock was really just a ploy to keep Claire on side in her plot to kill Charlie.
Viv Hope and Emily Wylie, Emmerdale
Meek Emily's arrival in the village saw her landing a job at the Post Office alongside absolute opposite Viv. Brash Viv desperately tried to boost mild-mannered Emily's confidence, which was shattered by her father's overbearing nature.
