Samia Smith has become addicted to doughnuts. The pregnant 'Coronation Street' actress - who plays hairdresser Maria Connor in the ITV soap - says she has had a huge craving for the sugary treats since discovering she was expecting her first child with husband Matthew. She said: "I can't stop eating them. I'm going to turn into one at this rate! You hear about all sorts of weird things that pregnant women start craving and eating, so when I found out I'm expecting, that was one of the things I was worried about. I'm just thankful it's doughnuts - but I've still got a long way to go, so you never know!"

Samia - whose alter-ego is due to give birth any day - announced she was pregnant just days after suffering the loss of her father to cancer.

She said: "I am so pleased that we were able to tell my dad about the baby before he died.

"I have been pregnant on screen for the best part of the past two years and as soon as I get rid of the fake baby bump I will have a real one."
