Michael Barrymore's Top Gear dream

(BANG) - Michael Barrymore wants to appear on 'Top Gear'.

The former 'Celebrity Big Brother' contestant - who has been battling alcoholism for most of his life - admits he would love to compete in the 'Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car' segment of the driving show.

He said: "I had too many cars when I was younger but it was a weakness of mine. I love cars. I would love to be invited to do one of those celebrity timed circuits on 'Top Gear'."

If Michael did star on the show, he would be competing against the times of celebrities including Hugh Grant, Ewan McGregor and Billie Piper. 'The X Factor' judge Simon Cowell currently holds the record, with a lap time of 1 minute 45 seconds.

Michael also revealed he often gets approached by fans on the street asking him for advice.

He said: "Over the years, I've been in so many people's front rooms.. A lot of people have been brought up with me and I've got time for them. For some reason, they tell me all their problems. I think that they think, because I've had a few of my own, that I can sort it out for them." (C) BANG Media International
