Martina Cole's The Take on Sky1
Everybody loves a bit of gritty crime drama, and Sky have gone to the motherlode for their latest glossy offering: The Take.

Based on Martina Cole's novel and starring Tom Hardy and Shaun Evans as low level gangsters out to create a criminal empire, this four-part drama is more a cross between Red Riding and Layer Cake in style than the usual mockney knees up.

Throw in Brian Cox as a prison-bound godfather manipulating the wannabe cousins, and embittered sisters Maggie and Jackie who hook up with the boys, and you've got a gripping drama about love, power, jealousy and betrayal.
