Jerry Springer blasts his own show
Jerry Springer said his eponymous chat show has "brought down western civilisation."
The 65-year-old star, who has hosted the infamous 'The Jerry Springer Show' for almost 20 years, is shocked the programme has lasted for so long as he claims it is "awful".
Jerry said: "No-one had any idea that it would last all these years.
"My first show was pretty pathetic but it's not as if I've got any better, it's still awful. The show, I love doing it, it's fun, but it has brought down western civilisation."
Jerry - who is currently appearing in West End show 'Chicago' - also revealed it is worrying to see the children of the people who were on the original shows.
He added to British TV Alan Carr: "I apologise. We've been doing the show for 19 years now and I'm really sorry for that. What's happening now is that we're starting to get the kids from the original guests on - and they were told not to procreate. So it's really horrible."
The show caused huge controversy when it was first aired as episodes focused on topics such as adultery, homophobia, homosexuality, incest, paedophilia, pornography, prostitution, racism and strange fetishes, which often resulted in fighting between guests.
