2 Grand in 'Britain's Got Talent' final

2 Grand in 'Britain's Got Talent' final
Julian Smith

Grandfather and granddaughter singing duo 2 Grand won a shock place in the 'Britain's Got Talent' final last night (28.05.09). John Neil, 76, and 12-year-old Sally Lux - who sang James Ingram and Linda Ronstadt's 'Somewhere Out There' - were voted to the final of the TV talent show by judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden, ahead of Callum Francis, who wowed the audience with his medley from 'The Jungle Book'. Simon told them: "Based on the fact one of you doesn't really have much of a second shot at this I'm going for 2 Grand."

However, both acts were beaten by saxophonist Julian Smith, who won the public vote with his version of 'All By Myself'.

After his performance the former long distance lorry driver said: "It's just a pleasure to be here. Thank you for the opportunity. I want it more anything."

Judge Piers Morgan - who said he would have chosen Callum for the final - told him: "You are probably the coolest contestant we've had. That was brilliant."

Other acts on yesterday's show included 73-year-old breakdancer Fred Bowers, busty burlesque dancer Fabia Cerra and Brit Chix, who were the first act to get three buzzes from the judges; meaning their rendition of Spice Girls hit 'Wannabe' was cut short.

Julian and 2 Grand will compete in tomorrow's final (30.05.09) along with singers Susan Boyle, Shaun Smith and Shaheen Jafargholi, dance groups Flawless and Diversity and comedy dancers Stavros Flatley.
