Michelle Keegan hasn't been in Coronation Street long, but she's made a big impression in a short space of time.

Last weekend she picked up Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards as David Platt's girlfriend Tina McIntyre. And her success clearly impressed co-star Jack P Shepherd.

"I was over the moon for her that she won Best Newcomer," he told the Daily Star Sunday.

However, in the same article, Jack was quick to dispel rumours that they're an item in real life.

He said: "We both laughed when we saw what had been written. Michelle is great to work with and we have a right laugh on set. But that's it."

Jack won Villain of the Year as David Platt, the unhinged teenager who is now doing time at a young offenders institute.

This promises to be an eventful week for Tina and the Platts.

In the first of the week's double bills, Tina will grill Audrey's old flame Ted about his sexuality.

On Friday, Ted and Gail will pay David a visit at the institute.

And it doesn't take the inmate long to realise he has a gay granddad.
