Stars to back African campaign
Glastonbury performers gave their thumb prints to demand Government action to help prevent child deaths in Africa.
Various musicians including Alex Kapranos, the singer from Franz Ferdinand, Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine, K T Tunstall and Graham Coxon from Blur supported the campaign by Save the Children.
Other familiar names backing the plea are Keith Allen, Pixie Geldof and BBC journalist Andrew Marr.
The charity will present its thumbprint petition to G8 leaders in July, in a bid to highlight the fact that 9.2 million children die before their fifth birthday.
According to Save the Children, around 115,000 babies will have died around the world during the Glastonbury weekend, most from preventable causes such as starvation or malaria.
This is nearly the same number of revellers who have attended the festival.
Singer K T Tunstall said: "I choose to make my mark for clean water. Every child should have access to clean water; it's a basic human right."
Save the Children will continue to drum up support for the campaign at the Edinburgh Festival, V Festival in Chelmsford, Bestival and The Bristol Balloon Festival this summer.
