Akon's tour in Asia has been postponed amid swine flu fears

Akon has postponed his concerts in the Philippines, China and Malaysia amid concerns over swine flu.

Promoters said Malaysian and Chinese organisers requested a postponement because of the virus, which has infected hundreds of people in all three countries.

The singer was originally scheduled to begin his tour in Manila on July 4, but the tour will now kick off on there October 23 and will finish on November 7.

In a taped message aired on ABS-CBN television, Akon apologised, saying the postponement was due to "unforeseen circumstances".

He added that all tickets would be valid for the new dates.
